RSS and SARE – recent newsletters

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a type of XML-based distribution of data and other information. Its functionality is similar to the one of newsletters’; however, all recipients are getting their messages over a special channel.

In order to read RSS messages, either a standard email client will do (Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird etc.), a special reader or just an Internet browser. Users can subscribe to selected channels by specifying their source address.

SARE customers can publish an RSS channel in a very simple way; the channel’s content will consist of selected newsletters.

The first step is to configure the channel in application preferences section. In RSS settings, we should fill in all the fields so that the users have got full information about the channel they are about to subscribe.

All technical parameters are generated by the system automatically. The first parameter is the link to our channel; the second one is a section we can paste in HTML page header so that the browser automatically recognises the active RSS channel and a link to it – all that with a single button.

In order to publish any newsletter over the RSS channel, we need to click the icon in the RSS column in Reports -> Archives in SARE.

The RSS channel makes it possible for all potential subscribers of your newsletter to get information about its history.
When the newsletter archive link is clicked, the user will be redirected to a webpage with a list of archive newsletters:

We recommend to use the RSS module available at SARE – to present the features of your newsletters to your subscribers.
